Web design has become a staple skill in the broader field of graphic design. Knowledge of web technologies increases the range of design skills and therefore opens up employment opportunities.
Creating art and animation for the web is an engaging, and highly marketable skill because all web pages need art and design to be competitive. In addition, gaining the skills to work with the possibilities offered by the web, as well as understanding social media, cloud storage, web collaboration, and web appropriate file management are critically important to working in the modern design field. In an increasingly digital age, these web skills will serve as an asset in every aspect of business and personal promotion.
The Web Design Certificate assumes some art and design background. In place of a design background students must also take MAD-113 2D Design and MAD-118 Graphic Design Skills. Students should consult with the departmental chairperson regarding their experience.
The certificate is designed for individuals who have already completed an associate’s degree, bachelor’s degree, or higher.
However, students who do not have a degree or whose associate degree is in progress are also eligible to pursue this certificate if they have satisfied the College’s basic skills requirements and ENG-121 with a grade of C or higher.
