Course Description:
This course provides students with an opportunity to examine contemporary social issues in the United States, and the manner in which similar issues confront societies elsewhere. Emphasis is placed on macro-societal issues, such as structural inequalities associated with race, gender, age, educational access, and work opportunities. In addition, students will explore the social dimensions of population growth vis-?-vis environmental degradation, the politics of underdevelopment, and the concentration of economic and political power.
