Course Description:
This course will review basic Spanish grammar while introducing more complex structures. Vocabulary expansion will also be a major objective as students practice the four skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing on an increasingly sophisticated level. To the extent possible, in-class discussion will be in Spanish. Readings will encompass a variety of literary genres such as essays, poetry, and short stories, with a major objective being to introduce students to such icons of Spanish culture as Octavio Paz and Pablo Neruda. Reading and writing skills will be refined as students translate, write and respond to these readings. As well, through these and other course activities, such as the appropriate use of video and music, students will enrich their understanding of the Spanish-speaking world. Prerequisite: LAN 102 Elementary Spanish II. Completes General Education Requirements:RE-R, SC-R, LAS
