Overloads

An overload in a semester is any load over 18 credit hours except where a normal program load is over 18 credit hours. Students are permitted to register for overloads and are charged as stated in this Catalog (Expenses and Refund Policy), except as stated below.

  1.  A student with a cumulative GPA less than 2.50 may not carry an overload under any circumstances.
  2. A student with a grade of “F” or “INC” in the preceding semester/session, excluding an internship/externship, is not permitted to register for an overload.
  3. No student will be allowed to attempt 19 credit hours or more in a (standard) semester without the approval of the Department Chair. Except in exceptional circumstances, and with the permission of the Provost, a student may not take more than 21 credit hours in a (standard) semester.
