Course Description:
This course explores the ecology of invertebrates in freshwater ecosystems. Special attention will be given to taxonomy and diversity, the role of invertebrates in aquatic food webs, and the implications non-indigenous invertebrates have on aquatic systems. The laboratory component is designed to provide students with skills in invertebrate sampling, identification, and culturing. (2 hours lecture, 3 hours laboratory). Prerequisites: BIO 101 Biology I and BIO 102 Biology II, BIO 210 General Ecology. Completes General Education Requirement:LAS.
