Course Description:
Ornithology is the scientific study of birds with emphasis on field studies of adaptive morphology, behavior and ecology. Lectures and seminar sessions during the Winter term will address topics such as sexual selection in birds, sensory physiology of migration and navigation, and avian medicine. Bird identification, community ecology, and conservation issues related to climate change will be addressed during the field component of class. Prerequisites: BIO 146, or BIO 148. 3 credits.
