Course Description:
A study of the various philosophical issues and problems that arise in law and legal institutions. Special emphasis is placed on examining the ways in which law is shaped by distinctly philosophical principles like justice, liberty, equality, rights and responsibility. Topics include the relationship between law and morality, the unique nature of legal obligation and its connections with legitimacy, authority, and citizenship, and problems surrounding the interpretation and enforcement of law.
