Transfer Policy

Transfer Policy

Generally speaking, a student’s application and credentials are evaluated after transcripts from all universities attended have been received. In all circumstances, an official transcript is required from the most recent institution attended. In addition, official transcripts are required from institutions from which a student wishes to transfer credits. Mercyhurst reserves the right to require an affirmation of good standing from a prior institution. In addition, associate degree-seeking students and students with fewer than 24 college credits completed during an academic year at another institution must also provide a high school transcript or a GED diploma or certificate and other substantiating scores.

For more information about policies related to transfer credits, refer to the Transfer Credits section of this catalog.

READMITTED STUDENTS

A student who attended Mercyhurst previously and is returning after an absence of one year or longer must reapply. Applicants should complete the free application at apply.mercyhurst.edu. Students who have attended another college or university since their last enrollment must request that the school send an official transcript to application.processing@mercyhurst.edu or to Mercyhurst University, Office of Admissions, Application Processing, 501 E. 38th St., Erie, PA 16546.

SECOND DEGREE

Students who hold a bachelor’s degree from another accredited college or university can earn a bachelor’s degree from Mercyhurst by qualifying in every way as stated in the Transfer Policy. Students with a degree from another college or university can also earn teacher certification at Mercyhurst. Contact the Department of Education to discuss potential options. Both second degree and certification candidates coming from another college or university must submit an application and required documentation and credentials. Applicants should contact the Office of Graduate and Professional Admissions for assistance.
