This course is focused on thinking about and thinking through improvisation as it applies to the therapeutic setting. Course objectives include: To learn about the various styles of improvisation and percussion elements in Music Therapy, to develop patient evaluation/assessment skills, to design appropriate therapeutic interventions that incorporate improvisation, and to explore symbolism and meaning of one’s own music.
