This seminar studies the ideological, theoretical, and conceptual perspectives ofsocial organization, criminality, public policy, and the mechanics of social control.Topics include the use of power and position in the development of criminal justicepolicies and the rhetoric and symbolic aspects of crime control. The seminar alsocovers public perceptions and reactions to crime and criminal justice issues.
