Associate in Science

The A.S. in Biotechnology degree is for students who seek an understanding of biotechnology fundamentals and who plan to transfer a four-year institution. The currriculum is designed to introduce students to the concepts and methods employed in the study of biology, genetics, cell and molecular biology, chemistry, microbiology, biotechnology and other related science fields. 

Program Outcomes

Upon completion of the program, students will be able to:

  • Apply fundamental knowledge of biology, chemistry, and the scientific method to solve problems in Biotechnology. 
  • Perform scientific investigations while properly utilizing laboratory equipment and instruments in a safe and effective manner. 
  • Analyze experimental data in the field of Biotechnology.
  • Write lab reports using scientific terminology.
  • Use ethical reasoning when discussing biotechnological techniques.
