Theater


Associate in Arts

This Option is for those students who plan to purse a B.A. or B.F.A. in Theater or Performing Arts and begin entry-level careers in theater arts, acting, communications, teaching, and other related fields. A grade of "C" or higher is required for all courses in the major.

Program Outcomes

Graduates will be able to:

  • Demonstrate extensive physical and vocal techniques used in various acting styles.
  • Explain in writing all elements of a production sequence of a performance.
  • Evaluate each phase of a production sequence in order to produce a valuable, entertaining, and meaningful performance.
  • Realize a performance that exhibits the abilities to perform in front of a live audience or on camera.

General Education:

In addition to the program-specific outcomes listed above, students completing the Associate degree programs are required to demonstrate proficiency in the General Education learning outcomes. Specific outcomes may vary by program; please refer to the program requirements below.

B. It is recommended that students enroll in their first WI course upon completion of EN 101.

C. Students transferring to William Paterson University must take SO 102 Institutional Racism. All other students: please see other Diversity course choices.

D. In the first semester of the first year, theater majors must audition for the spring play. In the first semester of the second year, theater majors must audition for the spring play.
