Academic Advisement at PCCC

PCCC utilizes the Proactive Caseload Management approach to academic advisement. This approach consists of three components, an assigned student caseload, proactive advising, and utilization of technology to communicate, view data, and collaborate. Each student will be assigned an advisor based on their major or support program affiliation, i.e., EOF, SSS. This advisement structure allows students to consistently connect with the same advisor, who is familiar with their academic needs and the requirements of their program of study.

Pathway coordinators and student development specialists collaborate with the Office of Career, Professional Readiness and Experiential Learning, faculty, and additional campus partners to support advisement. Available resources include skill-building workshops and career programming related to students’ majors and pathways.

The Center for Student Success (CSS) provides various academic advising services across all campuses to support student success. Services include:

  • Academic AdvisingAcademic advising is an essential part of the educational process at Passaic County Community College and a shared responsibility between students, faculty, and staff. CSS staff is dedicated to facilitating an advisement process that connects students to support personnel and resources. The academic advisement process at PCCC encourages self-awareness, informed decision-making, and student success.
  • Course Planning Support: An integral component of the Proactive Caseload Management approach to advisement is the Student Planning Module (SPM). Located in the student portal via Self-Service, the SPM enables students to plan courses for an efficient path to completion and graduation.Students will receive assistance with planning and registration in the CSS.

The Center for Student Success (CSS) is located in the Enrollment and Student Services Building at 225 Market Street. In-person or virtual assistance is available to students on a walk-in basis or by appointment. Student Development Specialists are also available at the Passaic Academic Center and the Wanaque Academic Center.

Standard hours are M, T, W, & F-8:30 AM-4:30 PM and Th-8:30 AM-7:00 PM.  We are closed on Fridays during the summer.
