Course Description:

Forest Economics and Finance explores the investment dimensions of forests and forestry and further introduces students to economics as a way of seeing and solving puzzles in the world. Students will learn the principles of forest investment analysis and capital budgeting, and they will study advanced topics such as modern portfolio theory, real options valuation, and economic analysis of property rights. Economic and finance theory will be related back to practical forest management problems and to its implications on the ecological aspects of silvicultural decision making. Prerequisites: MAT 210 Statistics and ECN 200 Principles of Economics.
