Course Description:

This course reinforces and adds to the skills a student acquired in GIS 201 (Intro to GIS) and provides the student new, more advanced Geospatial applications commonly employed in Forestry and Natural Resources. Students will use remotely sensed images for land cover/land use mapping and vegetative health along with GPS techniques to collect field data for mapping and ground truthing for assessing the results. Terrain Analysis using traditional methods along with more modern methods such as GPS and Lidar are covered. Quantitative skills demonstrated manually  and via spreadsheets are both emphasized and highlighted in the above processes. Prerequisites: MAT 125 College Algebra and GIS 201 Intro to GIS.
