Course Description:

Tiny homes are growing as a viable option to expensive and expansive housing. Decreasing environmental footprint while creating a personalized space within a moderate budget appeals to a wide range of homebuyers. In this class, you will learn design techniques which maximize available space and functionality while minimizing square footage. Students will examine case studies of how and why people choose tiny homes and calculate costs per square foot of various design and material choices. Building a model tiny house in order to plan and problem solve prior to creation of computer drawn 3D models will establish a working knowledge of spatial geometry. In addition, the course will include discussion of zoning and building regulations that affect tiny houses.
