Course Description:
This course is designed to be a continuation of Organic Chemistry I (CHM 241) in the study of carbon compounds. Students will study reactions of aromatic compounds, aldehydes, ketones, carboxylic acids, amines, esters, carbohydrates, and lipids. Additionally, students will study the theory of various spectroscopic methods of structure determination. The laboratory will concentrate on the synthesis and analysis of organic compounds. (3 hours lecture, 3 hours lab). Prerequisite: CHM 141 Organic Chemistry I
