Student Eligibility for Federal Student Aid Programs

To be eligible for financial aid from the federal student aid programs, students must:

  • Demonstrate financial need, except for some loan programs;
  • Be enrolled or accepted for enrollment as a regular student working toward a degree or certificate in an eligible program;
  • Be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen;
  • Have a valid social security number;
  • Make satisfactory academic progress;
  • Sign a statement of educational purpose and a certification statement on over-payment and default (both found on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid); and
  • Have a High School diploma or recognized equivalent

Priority consideration is given to those applicants whose Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) information is available in the Financial Aid Office by the May 1st priority deadline.
