Course Description:
This course provides a general orientation to therapeutic recreation and its role in serving the needs of persons with varying abilities. This course content emphasizes the history of the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) and recreational therapy, areas of practice, and considerations for treatment of a wide range of common disorders. Through the use of recreation therapy, psychological as well as physical benefits will be explored. Prerequisities: REC 105: recreation and leisure in the US and PSY 101: Psychology or PSY 110: Organizational Behavior.
