Course Description:
This course is designed to provide students who plan to complete the Forestry Capstone Project with the foundation for their work on their Project. Students are expected to broaden their understanding and application of skills gained in courses leading up to the Capstone, such as literature review, methods of obtaining quantitative data, identifying goals and objectives, establishing research parameters, and effective communication of information. Students will work with their course instructor to select the focus of their Forestry Capstone Project, design the project, and schedule activities that may be required in advance of the semester they complete their projects. The result of this effort will be a completed, approved proposal plan. As these will be individual projects, a mentor who will serve as the student?s supervisor for the project will be selected. Examples of projects include: forest stewardship plans, ecological research studies, timber harvest plans with implementation, and other service projects (1 hour lecture). Junior status in School of Forestry and Natural Resources.
