Course Description:
Humans communicate in a variety of different ways both intentionally and unintentionally. This foundation course explores what is meant by the term communication. Students will consider communication theories and models that form interpersonal relationships, group dynamics, and public communication. Students will develop an analytical approach to communication experienced in their own lives and apply that knowledge to make choices about meanings and responses in appropriate, ethical, and effective ways. By the end of the course, students will analyze the connection between effective communication and strong leadership. Completes General Education Requirements:SC-F, LAS.
