Course Description:
This course explores the molecules that comprise living things and the specialized set of chemical reactions that have evolved to sustain life. Topics will include the chemical nature of biomolecules; thermodynamics and bioenergetics; protein structure and analysis; enzymes and enzyme kinetics; design, control and regulation of metabolic and other biochemical pathways. (3 hours lecture). Prerequisites: BIO 102 Biology II and Co-requisite: CHM 241 Organic Chemistry I Completes General Education Requirement:LAS.
