INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Mercyhurst University participates in the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) and welcomes applicants from nations around the world. In compliance with SEVP, international applicants are subject to additional application requirements.

Applicants must submit a copy of their passport photo page. The U.S. government requires that international applicants demonstrate the financial ability to live and learn in the United States. To meet that requirement, international applicants must also submit a completed Certification of Finances form (showing funds in U.S. dollars), a completed International Financial Aid Application, and a Bank Affidavit, notarized and on bank letterhead, verifying U.S. dollar amounts available.

If English is not the student’s first language, scores on the Duolingo, IELTS, TOEFL, TOEFL Essentials, or PTE tests are required, with a Duolingo score of no less than 100, IELTS score of no less than 6.5, TOEFL score of no less than 79, TOEFL Essentials score of no less than 8.5, or PTE score of no less than 85. Applicants with SAT/ACT scores or two or more years of full-time English curriculum can apply for a waiver.

Finally, educational records must be translated into English and notarized. The transcripts of students transferring from a university outside the United States must be evaluated by World Education Services (WES), Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE), or SpanTran using “Course-by-Course Report”. Full course descriptions and transcripts must also be submitted with the application.
