The Hammermill Library is a modern facility providing access to physical and digital collections. Its digital library can be accessed 24/7 at library.mercyhurst.edu. Librarians are on staff to help students learn how to locate, evaluate, understand, and leverage information resources.
The library building provides a safe and comfortable environment for research and study and is equipped with computers and wireless access. Private study rooms are available to serve student study groups and students seeking a quiet space. The library is also home to Mercyhurst’s Telehealth and Prayer (TAP) room, a neutral space equipped with materials for students who want to pray, meditate, or conduct telehealth appointments. The TAP room and study rooms may be reserved in advance at any time.
Among the library’s holdings are print volumes, eBooks, and electronic journal databases to support the scholarly needs of students and faculty. The Tutoring Center, Writing Center, Testing Center, and IT help desk are located on the main level of the library to provide specialized support. These services’ operational hours vary, however the library itself maintains late-night hours and weekend hours to accommodate busy student schedules.
Hammermill Library is home to the University Archives, which preserves and proudly displays selections of the Thomas J. and Michele Ridge Collection and the Sister Joan Chittister Archives.
