Course Description:
This course will examine the history and development of the cult of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the economy of salvation from the Christian/Catholic perspective while examining closely those doctrines/dogmas associated with Mary and their place in the tradition of the Church. Special emphasis will be given to the teaching of the Second Vatican Ecumenical Council (1962-65) on this topic and contemporary theologies of Mary, both from the Christian and other religious perspectives.
