Course Description:
A study of the 'Who Done It?' as it evolved in America and spread through the world as a popular genre. Students read, analyze and write about crime/mystery fiction with emphasis on the development of the character of the detective. Writers include but are not limited to Poe, Conan Doyle, Hammett, Chandler, Chesterton, Freeman, Bramah, Futrelle, Ross MacDonald, McBain, Christie, Ibarguengoita, Sayers, P.D. James, Robert Parker, Simeon, Sjowall and Wahloo, Rendell, Stribling, Togawa and Vander Wetering. Occasional Offering.
