Course Description : This is a survey course that includes topics of energy conversion, and the regulatory and economic aspects of alternative energy sources. The course covers the scientific aspects of the carbon cycle, fuel combustion, nuclear fission, heat transfer and thermodynamics. The course has a laboratory component that uses the scientific method to explore aspects of energy conversion (mechanical to electrical conversion, radiant collection, photo voltaic conversion, wind and mass flow to mechanical conversion, etc.).
