Introduction to Poetry

Course Code: ENG-247

Course Description : Introduces students to the principles of studying and analyzing different poetic forms. While reading, listening to, discussing and writing about various kinds of poems by such poets as Shakespeare, Milton, Keats, Frost, Plath and others, students learn to evaluate and appreciate poetry by understanding such concepts as figurative language, poetic speaker and situation, meter, sound, form and rhyme. Students are required to write a number of literary analyses.
